Today, immerse yourself in the spiritual and historical essence of Vientiane. Your city tour begins with the oldest Wat Sisaket, known for its thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo. Stop at the imposing Patuxay Monument, often called Vientiane's Arc de Triomphe, before visiting the golden splendor of Pha That Luang Stupa, a national symbol of Laos. In the afternoon, continue your exploration with visits to Wat Ong Tue, Wat Inpeng, and Wat Haisok. Conclude your day at the Vientiane Central Market, where you can experience local commerce. As evening approaches, observe a beautiful sunset by the Mekong River, a truly serene experience.
This morning, we visit the Lao – Thai Friendship Bridge before heading to Buddha Park (Xieng Khuan), a captivating outdoor sculpture park filled with a remarkable array of Buddhist and Hindu statues, all set by the Mekong River. This unique blend of art and spirituality offers a fascinating glimpse into local beliefs. In the afternoon, experience the convenience of modern travel as you take a speed train to Luang Prabang, transitioning from the capital's calm to the ancient city's charm.
Morning in Luang Prabang is dedicated to discovering its most famous sites. Begin with a visit to the National Museum, housed in the former Royal Palace, where you'll gain a deeper understanding of local history and the rich Lao culture. Continue your exploration at the magnificent Wat Xiengthong, renowned for its gracefully sweeping roofs, and the serene Wat Saen and Wat Visoun. After lunch, visit the nearby traditional Tai Lue weaving village of Ban Phanom, famous for its exquisite textiles, followed by a visit to the very scenic Tad Sae Waterfall (seasonal), where you can admire the cascades. As the day draws to a close, climb the stairs up Mount Phousi for a truly spectacular sunset panorama of Luang Prabang, with its golden stupas shimmering against the sky.
Today, embark on a serene boat trip on the Mekong River. This leisurely cruise offers breathtaking views of the tranquil countryside as you journey to the very famous Pak Ou Buddha Caves. These mysterious caves, nestled within limestone cliffs where the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers meet, are crammed with thousands of miniature Buddha statues left by pilgrims over centuries. Afterward, visit the riverside village of Ban Xang Hai, which has for centuries crafted the clay jars used to ferment traditional Lao wine.
This morning, engage in an in-depth and hands-on learning experience at the Living Lands community farm, where you may participate in the 14 steps of the rice cycle. You'll also see and learn about bamboo weaving, traditional tool and trap making, organic gardening, and even blacksmithing, offering a deep dive into rural Laotian life. In the afternoon, head out to the majestic Kuang Si Waterfall. Here, you can relax and enjoy the stunning natural surroundings, take a refreshing swim in its beautiful turquoise pools, or simply walk along the forest trails. Afterward, we'll transfer you back to the city.
