Day 1: Siem Reap – Arrival & Temple Circuit
Upon your arrival at Siem Reap airport, we'll extend a warm welcome and provide a comfortable transfer to your hotel for check-in. Take a moment to relax before we embark on a fascinating journey through some of Angkor's renowned temples. You'll explore the impressive 10th-century East Mebon, once standing on an artificial island. Continue to the intricately carved Ta Som, built by King Jayavarman VII, and the unique circular island temple of Neak Pean. Discover the sprawling Preah Khan, a temple of towered enclosures much like Ta Prohm but in better preservation. Finally, visit Pre Rup, a majestic temple mountain from the 10th century, offering a stunning start to your Angkor adventure.
This morning, prepare to be awestruck as we delve into the antique capital of Angkor Thom ("Great City"). Enter through its famous South Gate, flanked by colossal statues depicting the "churning of the ocean of milk." Within, explore the enigmatic Bayon Temple, renowned for its 54 towers adorned with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara. Discover the Phimeanakas, the Royal Enclosure, the vast Elephants Terrace, and the intriguing Terrace of the Leper King.
Continue your journey to Ta Prohm, one of Angkor's most beautiful and atmospheric temples, famously intertwined with giant tree roots, preserving much of its original mystery.
In the afternoon, culminate your exploration at Angkor Wat, the most famous and largest of all temples on the plain of Angkor. This 12th-century masterpiece, comparable in size to Beijing's Imperial Palace and emblazoned on the Cambodian flag, is considered the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Before ending the day, ascend Phnom Bakheng Hill to enjoy a breathtaking sunset panorama over the ancient temples.
In the evening, savor a delicious buffet dinner at a local restaurant, accompanied by a graceful Khmer Traditional Dance Show (Apsara dance), a perfect end to a day of wonder.
This morning, embark on a unique boat trip for a truly memorable sightseeing experience on Tonlé Sap Lake, the "Great Lake" of Cambodia and one of Asia's largest freshwater lakes. Enjoy a fascinating cruise past vibrant floating villages, complete with their own schools, restaurants, and even hospitals, offering a captivating glimpse into a unique way of life.
On your way back, we'll visit Les Artisans d’Angkor, a renowned handicraft center where you can observe skilled artisans at work. Then, explore the lively Old Market ("Phsa Chas"), an bustling outdoor market brimming with local antiquities, beautiful silver and gold jewelry, precious gems, silks, kramas, intricate stone and wood carvings, as well as a variety of souvenirs.
The rest of the day is at your leisure until we provide a comfortable transfer to the airport for your departure flight. We hope you leave with a profound appreciation for Cambodia's rich history and culture!
